Praetorians is a historical strategy title developed by Pyro Studios and published by Kalypso Media Digital. Players are transported to the political machinations of an emerging Roman Empire across various settings. The journey begins on the dusty battlefields of Egypt before moving to the combat theaters of Gaul. The final stage takes place in Italy as part of a crusade to become Emperor. This quest is not easy because the Empire is defended by thousands of different troop types and war machines. These units possess special skills and individual strengths that players must account for. Success depends on strategy, requiring you to combine your units and exploit enemy weaknesses. As you advance toward the Emperor, the difficulty increases significantly. You will eventually face his personal guard, known as The Praetorian Guard, which is described as the most powerful and deadly fighting force in the Empire. Three different armies are available for use: Gauls, Egyptians, and Roman Legions. Each army offers unique sets of abilities and formations for different unit types and characters. The gameplay features fast-paced action that can easily shift from hectic situations to wrong outcomes. The main story length is approximately 15 hours, while a completionist run takes about 41 hours.
