About
Sucker for Love: Date to Die For is an indie RPG and simulation title published by DreadXP and developed by Akabaka. The game was released on April 23, 2024, and features a single-player experience. Players will encounter a narrative inspired by 90s anime aesthetics within the visual novel format. The story follows an investigation into mysterious disappearances in the rural hometown of Sacramen-Cho before the protagonist is kidnapped. You become trapped in the labyrinthian Black Woods where cultists have taken control. Escape depends on deciphering strange purple spellbooks found among the writings of madmen. These texts describe summoning The Black Goat of the Woods, known as Rhok'zan. The town appears to be under the influence of Rhok'zan's aura, though the protagonist feels different from those around them. Players must avoid fanatical cultists and survive dangerous rituals to try to get out alive. The narrative draws inspiration from Lovecraftian mythos, specifically referencing works like The Dunwich Horror and The Shadow over Innsmouth.
