About
The Mortuary Assistant is an indie horror adventure simulation developed by DarkStone Digital and published by DreadXP. Released on August 2, 2022, this single-player title places you in the role of an apprentice at River Fields Mortuary after earning a degree in mortuary sciences. You spend several months assisting the mortician with daily tasks while learning the embalming process and how to care for the deceased. Late one night, you are called into work to handle specific embalmings when death does not keep daytime hours. The phone rings with the mortician on the other end as rumors prove true and you find yourself unable to leave the facility. You must perform embalming tasks while keeping demonic forces at bay in a setting where something is different about both the bodies and you. The game offers a main story length of two hours, with additional content extending playtime to six hours for those seeking more exploration. A completionist run can take up to twenty hours as you navigate the simulation mechanics and horror elements presented in the adventure.
