About
Armikrog is an indie adventure and puzzle title published by Versus Evil and developed by Pencil Test Studios. The game features a single-player experience where players control space explorer Tommynaut alongside his blind alien talking dog, Beak-Beak. These characters work together to unravel the mysteries of a fortress that keeps them captive. Players solve puzzles and explore the environment to progress through the main story, which takes approximately four hours to complete. The visual style relies on stop motion clay animation, a format associated with the creators of Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood. Doug TenNapel designed the loveable characters, while Ed Schofield and Mike Dietz developed the project. A rich cast of voiceover talent brings the dialogue to life, featuring actors such as Jon Heder, Rob Paulsen, and Michael J. Nelson. The release date for this title was September 29, 2015. Even when including extra content beyond the main story, the total completion time remains around five hours.

Armikrog Critic Reviews and Review Scores

Armikrog fails as an adventure, a story, a Neverhood successor, and on any other level you might have hoped for.

Armikrog's memory puzzles and tenuous humour are a low point in the adventure game renaissance.

Provided you don't get hung up by myriad design problems or a progress-halting bug, Armikrog is a monotonous and overly simplistic adventure
GameSpotMatt Espineli
5
Though it starts with a glimmer of excellence, Armikrog's luster fades over time. It inevitably feels empty, falling flat in its effort to develop its characters, fill out its world with compelling atmosphere, and provide consistent puzzles with sound logic. While the game's claymation visuals are delightful and unique, that quality alone isn't enough to make it worth recommending. What remains is a half-baked experience that, for all the personality it wears on its sleeve, fails to captivate in any meaningful way.
