How to Unlock Characters in Duet Night Abyss

In Duet Night Abyss, there are currently twenty different characters that can be unlocked and used in your playthrough. Each character will fit a different combat approach or role on the battlefield, and be assigned one of the six different Elemental types – Anemo, Electro, Hydro, Lumino, Pyro, and Umbro.

Most of the characters in Duet Night Abyss are available to unlock via the Secret Letter System, which requires 10 Secret Letter Clues to purchase a letter. That character’s letter can then be opened following the purchase once you complete a Covert Commissions stage. Once you open a Secret Letter, it will have a chance of dropping a character Thought. In order to unlock a character, you will need to have acquired 30 of their Thoughts.

Alternatively, players can purchase a character thought with 150 Phoxene Plumule, which acts as the premium currency in Duet Night Abyss. Lastly, a few characters, such as Margie, are available by completing missions or milestones in the game, while methods for obtaining others, such as Berenica, rely on events (in this case, the global pre-registration period).

Su Yi and Camilla are the latest characters to have been revealed for Duet Night Abyss. Both of them were showcased to the public for the first time via the Version 1.1 Preview Livestream on December 12, 2025. Previously, Su Yi has made minor appearances through Huaxu teasers, but everything about her (including her name, until the December livestream) has largely remained a mystery. Camilla, on the other hand, has existed in Duet Night Abyss since the very beginning, but only as an NPC who provides the player with quests. Following the December livestream, it has been revealed that Camilla will be joining the roster of playable characters. However, much like Su Yi, there is no confirmed date on when she will release, as of yet.
