It’s been six months since Arknights: Endfield went live and in that time we’ve been busy building factories, laying out ziplines, helping the people of Valley 4 and Wuling solve problems, dealing with Landbreakers, gotten involved in regional politics, and somehow still have managed to not recall all that much about or pasts. Ah. The life of an RPG hero.
Of course, there are always more problems to deal with, and such is the case in the free-to-play action RPG’s ‘Homecoming’ update set to arrive on July 16. All that work we’ve been doing in Wuling is finally coming to a head and with the improvements made to the Xiranite Nexus, we’ll be heading to the North Wuling Exclusion Zone to recover the land lost to the Very Large Rift a decade ago. The journey will take us through two new areas, the Zone itself and Yinglung Pass which functions as the gateway to the Exclusion Zone. This is where we will finally meet the Proxy Si, who has been helping us out remotely during our time in Wuling.
We’ll be accompanied into the area by a familiar face, Arcane, who will also be the first of two new six-star Operators dropping in this patch. The other will be an idol name Liino. Arcane will be the first caster with multiple combat forms while Liino will use her music in combat.
Of course, the update will also bring new AIC Expansions and new gear. Gas is being introduced as a new material, and players will be able to convert materials between gaseous, liquid, and solid states, bypassing various production stages and cutting back on the number of machines needed to produce items.
The update also introduces a new seasonal combat mode, Echoes of War. The mode is permanent and features rotating stages, three difficulty levels, and more. For those who are less hard-core, don’t worry, all Oroberyl rewards can be earned through normal difficulty. Higher difficulties will feature other rewards.
Other activities being introduced in this update include a two-operator combat activity, a timed exploration and collection activity, and more Umbral Monument challenges and puzzle maps in Delver of the Cryptic.
The devs have also decided to go ahead and add an early unlock feature for new players. Typically these come along in a year or two. So, players will be able to move quickly to Wuling after completing an early story requirement.
As mentioned above, we’re at the six-month mark in Endfield, and the devs are celebrating with login, mail, and other rewards. With all the reward sources combined, player will be able to pick up at least 10,000 Oroberyls: 3000 from the login campaign, 2000 from in-game mail, and at least 5000 from Fortune Connect-and-Win attempts. That means some lucky players might get more. Two 7-day login campaigns will also give players a total of 110 limited HH Permits.
On an additional note, the devs had several announcements in the end and managed to sneak in the fact that Perlica will be appearing in Fortnite. Or, at least her outfit will. We don’t have a lot of details on that yet.
