With the early access launch of Dawntrail just ten days away, Final Fantasy XIV players are likely flashing back to the long queue times and Error 2002s and 90002s experienced during Endwalker’s early days. Since then, Square Enix has introduced Data Center travel and, with that in mind, some players of the MMORPG have been making plans to have a backup World to travel to should theirs be too crowded.
Unfortunately for some, their plans may have to change.
Today, the developer announced their plans for dealing with Data Center congestion and the options are a bit more limited than some were probably hoping. The post details the various plans for each region’s Data Center. Japan may see the most issues as the post states simply that the number of non-home world characters that can log in is limited, and once a World has reached the maximum number of characters, non-home world characters that logged out on that World won’t be able to log in.
For those of us in North America, three of our Data Centers: Aether, Primal, and Crystal, will be unavailable for travel. That’s why they opened up four additional Worlds on Dynamis. If you’re coordinating with your friends, you’ll want to pick a World there. Europe will have only one Data Center open for travel: Shadow. Chaos and Light are restricted. Note that the World Visit system will also be restricted, even for people on the same Data Centers.
If for some reason, players can’t log into any of the options listed above, everyone still has the option of traveling to Oceania. Nothing there will change.
Note that the dev team is bringing back the 30-minute automatic log-out for inactive players, so plan accordingly.
