It’s been about four months since publisher Gamigo announced plans to bring back the free-to-play medieval open-world MMORPG, Gloria Victis. Since then, they’ve been busy working on the game. Now, it seems they’re ready to take the game live. In fact, players have about two weeks to wait to hop in on June 17.
Gamigo acquired Gloria Victis after the game was shuttered due to the original studio shutting down. And it’s only been four months since they announced its return. That doesn’t mean they rushed it. The game has been through rounds of testing with the official beta closing just last month. In addition, the company seems to have taken things into account that others might not have in this kind of situation. As part of the launch announcement, the developer revealed that players who purchased premium skins when the original game was live will have the opportunity to recover them. That’s a pretty big deal considering most players had probably written those off as a loss.
While Gamigo has obviously been spending time improving the game, it’s pretty apparent they’re not trying to reinvent it. Rather, they’ve worked to keep it similar to what the original players came to love. Now, to see if, once the post-launch shine wears off, the game will attract new players or just the original ones. I’m sure, in either case, the original players will just be happy to have the game back.
