MMOBOMB
Jun 24, 2025
BitCraft Online launched into Early Access for $30 on June 21, inviting players to explore the shared world of Starfell.
Clockwork Labs expressed gratitude for the community’s support on the sandbox MMORPG, which will be free-to-play on official launch in the future. There were performance issues, though the team assured they’re actively working on them.
On the first day, there were various issues such as server instability, login errors, and content glitches. The developers prioritized debugging server performance problems causing disconnections and poor gameplay responsiveness, while also planning to tackle onboarding bugs, client performance concerns like memory leaks and FPS drops, as well as user experience improvements. They also shared intentions to balance gameplay elements, particularly to help player-made towns become more competitive with the pre-existing ruined towns.
By the second day, significant progress was made in fixing server-side problems that had led to severe lag, freezes, and disconnections, according to the team. They identified four key issues — ranging from inefficient database queries triggered by UI windows, crashes in the AI system controlling creatures, excessive logging that locked resources, and a last-minute code version choice that impacted performance. After deploying the newest code and fixes, server performance improved dramatically.
Client-side issues remain, but optimizations and bug fixes are on the way.
