ROBOCRAFT 2 is now live (in Steam Early Access).
Freejam has launched the sequel to their debut vehicular combat game, which brings players the ability to create and engage in explosive vehicular combat with machines made from blocks — all driven by server-side physics.
The original ROBOCRAFT released in 2007, gaining a following of over 16 million players, and the developers aim to recapture its original fan base while reaching a new audience. This sequel leverages advanced technology to introduce new features and mechanics for players to create and deploy machines in physics-based destruction.
“One of the most exciting things about working on this sequel is the opportunity to use powerful technology that was not previously available to us,” said Freejam CEO and Game Director Mark Simmons. “This will let us develop new features and mechanics that players can use to create incredible machines that they can send into battle in intense physics-based destruction.”
The game's building system will evolve over the coming months with the introduction of new components like tank tracks, mech legs, and hovers. Additionally, there are plans to allow players to design their own maps and game objectives using the familiar building system — empowering them to create not only machines but also unique gaming experiences.
