I don't normally cover "bundles" or "sales" that MMORPGs put on in their cash shop. Games pay to advertise and sending out the latest cash shop offering as a press release often feels like the game is trying to get some free advertising.
I'm going to make an exception here, but only because of my love for real-time strategy game Star Trek: Armada. Back in 2000, that PC game was literally one of the best ways for us Trek fans to jump into the universe and see content that referenced content from the shows. In this day and age, we're used to that. Hell, we're even spoiled by it when it comes to Star Trek Online. The MMO often not only pulls content and stories from the shows, but they even get many of the actors to come lend their voice. We've all become spoiled brats.
Anyway, a new bundle is dropping in Star Trek Online that pays a bit of respect to Star Trek games of the past. The "Heritage Starship Bundle" is available on PC today and console players will get it on August 22nd. The bundle contains 3 ships: “The Typhon” and “Valkyrie Mk II” from Star Trek: Invasion, “The Premonition” from Star Trek: Armada , and “The Achilles” from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Dominion Wars.
Being the captain of these ships in the STO universe is pretty cool. The video below shows you the ships in action a bit. (The Premonition using the Gemini effect in the video was pretty awesome.)
The bundle isn't cheap, though. Not counting any Zen bonuses you get for buying Zen in bulk, the "discounted" price right now is about $90 with the bundle sporting a "normal" price of about $125.
