The F2P early access for RTS game Stormgate has been rocky. We've already talked about the "Mixed" Steam reviews and the issue many have had with a campaign they didn't feel was finished, art assets that need more polish, and the 3v3 PvP feature that was slated to release at a later date.
Now the team is shifting focus to hit those exact points and more based on the continued feedback the title keeps receiving. A new blog from Gerald Villoria (PR and Comms) details the upcoming additions and why the team is shifting their attention to these specific items. It all really boils down to one main idea: these are what players want the team to fix ASAP.
First up is the campaign. While the current state of the campaign was provided as a way to show players what the team was doing and to get their help and feedback on improving it before launch, players expected the campaign to be nearly finished and be a more polished experience. The team is jumping on providing that more "finished" experience, with a more detailed breakdown on how they will get there provided by an additional blog.
Next up is the art, specifically the art on characters used in cutscenes. Proportions are...well...let's say, a bit off. The team is jumping on this and on the Amara character design. Audio improvements are added in this bucket.
The biggest focus is probably going to be the 3v3 mode. This was a mode many anticipated as it would be a bit different from most real-time strategy games, but it wasn't planned to be released until sometime in 2025. That's been updated and the mode will now be released sometime this year. This will require roadmap changes, so expect an updated map soon.
The change on 3v3 is the one that interests me the most. This is a BIG jump to take that mode and push it into 2024 and I'm very curious about how well it'll be received under the new timeline. We shall see.
