When IO Interactive returned to the world of Hitman in 2016, it seemed like the long-running stealth series had run its course. At the time, the most recent entry was Hitman: Absolution, which was a competent but underwhelming follow-up to Hitman: Blood Money, launched a decade earlier, in 2006. Fortunately, the studio soon showed it had plenty of great ideas left to explore in future Hitman games, creating a new trilogy, now called World of Assassination, that stand as some of the finest examples of the stealth genre to date.
