There are upsides and downsides to everything, including getting a graphics update in your favorite MMORPG. Such is the case with Final Fantasy XIV, which had its graphics buffed with the launch of Dawntrail. The devs did warn that player characters may not look exactly right, although they tried not to take things too far and offered players a free fantasia to try to fix any issues that might pop up – such as a difference in skin color due to lighting.
That said, there have been other issues and players have been letting the developers know via the game’s forums and social media. Today, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida addressed the issues in a post on the Lodestone. He offered a rough timeline for fixing some of the issues brought up. These include things like polygons displaying improperly at certain angles, skin blemishes, lip color, issues with eyebrows and eyelashes, and more.
As it turns out, some of these fixes will require more work than others and the devs have to be careful that they don’t mess other things up in the meantime. Some things will be fixed with patch 7.1 while others will take longer.
While the list of items to be worked on included in the letter is sizeable, Yoshi-P notes that there are some things he didn’t cover. The team is aware of them, however, and is working on them, too.
