The setting features a dystopian environment following a horrific event known as the Incident, which left survivors cut off from the outside world. Players can choose to join one of the factions made up of survivors or operate independently within this shattered landscape. The experience begins by enrolling in one of the five divisions of the CRONUS Corporation, each offering distinct features and mechanics. After starting as an ordinary company employee, the character evolves into a driving force behind the narrative covering events before, during, and after the disaster. The journey takes place under the Dome, where players cannot return once they begin their one-way trip inside this enclosed area. This path involves avoiding radiation and anomalies while searching for unique artifacts amidst mutated animals and other dangers. Once familiar with the initial zones, players dive into an open world full of freedom and danger ruled by five powerful factions. The old order is gone, allowing you to join a faction or be a lone wolf who changes the future of the Dome at your own pace. You may threaten enemies out of battle by persuading important people for favors or bribing them if charisma is not high enough. Each quest can be completed differently depending on your stats and choices, leading to multiple game endings that adapt to your playstyle. Character progression allows you to specialize in stealth, melee combat, sniper rifles, psionics, or diplomacy while deciding whether to lead a party or go alone. You can learn dozens of useful abilities such as hacking, thieving, mechanics, and driving during your journey through the world. Studying relics reveals technological secrets of the Dome, leading to the discovery of new places, anomalies, and rivals that are not always human. Difficult decisions require you to steal, assassinate, or help others despite any consequences, while building reputation with one faction or trying to please them all. Crafting systems let you forge robotic armor called Servoshell, build unique guns, upgrade equipment, and cook food to survive on an empty stomach. The main story length is approximately 26 hours, while the main story plus extras extends to about 40 hours of gameplay. Completing all content requires around 67 hours to achieve a completionist run through the game.
