About

Field of Glory: Empires is a grand strategy title developed by Ageod and published by Slitherine Ltd., released on July 10, 2019. The game falls within the Historical, Strategy, and Turn-based genres, offering both single-player and multi-player modes. Players manage an empire set in Europe and the Mediterranean Area during the Classical Age. This setting allows users to move through a living tapestry of nations and tribes, each possessing their own distinctive culture. The core experience involves expanding dominion through wars of conquest while carefully managing the risk of Decadence. As an empire ages, challenges emerge that require more than just border expansion; players must also shape government and culture. Constructing buildings enhances armies, citizen life, and the economy, while establishing trade networks manages goods and resources. The battle system emphasizes army composition and understanding strengths and weaknesses rather than simply fielding larger forces. Choosing the right battlefield and general is decisive for success in combat scenarios. Combat resolution uses simultaneous turns, requiring players to think ahead to intercept or escape enemy armies. Every decision impacts every actor within this living world where war is decided by both battles and clever manoeuvres. For those seeking direct control, the game allows exporting and loading battles into Field of Glory II before returning results to Empires. Finally, users can challenge real opponents in one of the largest asynchronous multiplayer systems ever created. The main story length is listed as 51 hours.
