About
Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War is a turn-based strategy title developed by Proxy Studios and published by Slitherine Ltd., released on July 11, 2018. This sci-fi game serves as the first 4X strategy experience set within the Warhammer universe, where four factions fight for control over planetary resources. The narrative centers on Gladius Prime, a world once known for peace that became a battleground after ancient relics revealed a shrouded past and awakened an unspeakable horror. Players can engage in single-player campaigns against challenging AI or participate in multi-player modes to compete with strangers across the globe. Co-op options allow friends to work together, while the game offers four distinct playable factions including the Astra Militarum, Space Marines, Orks, and Necrons. Each faction provides its own unique playstyle for managing the brutal war that now defines the planet. The main story takes approximately 11 hours to complete, with additional content extending playtime to 16 hours when extras are included. For those aiming to finish all objectives, the completionist run requires about 50 hours of gameplay. The setting presents a world of terror and violence where citizens are trapped in a struggle for survival following the discovery of dangerous artifacts.

A plodding and predictable 4X strategy game that's relaxing in its own way, but rarely challenging.
