About
Niplheim's Hunter - Branded Azel is an adventure and RPG developed by Black Train and published by Kagura Games, released on January 6, 2019. The game features a single-player experience where you control Azel, an up-and-coming huntress marked by a beast that grants her a Demon Brand. This brand amplifies physical abilities and allows the use of mystical powers, but using it too much risks causing her to lose control. Misfortune also continues to follow her throughout her journey. To free herself from the curse, Azel travels with her blacksmith friend to Niplheim, a remote frontier known as the Harbor of Disasters. This area serves as the front line in the battle between humans and monsters, where she intends to join the local guild. Since the townsfolk are reluctant to share information with newcomers, Azel must climb the ranks of the Hunter's Guild to gather data on nearby demons. Players can take on quests and set out on excursions to hunt down demon beasts while choosing which enemies to engage in the wild. You can bag rare game by toppling enemies using a combination of traditional weaponry and the power of the Demon Brand. Back at your base, materials scavenged from monsters are used to craft new outfits that increase attributes and unlock new abilities for Azel. These crafted items allow you to decide whether to play as a fleet-footed ninja or a hard-hitting cowgirl. While in town, you can interact with guild members and merchants to find extra missions and potentially hear secrets they have to share. The game offers fast-paced combat where you use a mixture of attacks and Demon Brand powers to swiftly fell monsters and gather materials. Equipment crafting lets you use gathered hunt materials to create new gear that unlocks abilities and improves interactions with townsfolk. The cast includes banter between the short-tempered Azel and her offbeat guildmates, creating an adventure worth remembering. Visuals are presented through beautiful pixel art where every sprite was hand-drawn by Sugar Star, a collaborator on the development. The main story runs for approximately six hours, while completing all extras extends playtime to about nine hours. The game may contain content not appropriate for all ages or suitable for viewing at work. Purchasing the title on GOG provides a censored version of the game rather than the full unedited experience. For more information regarding the game's specific content, you can visit the publisher's website, Kagura Games.
