The Rise of the Golden Idol is an indie adventure game published by Playstack and developed by Color Gray Games. It was released on November 12, 2024, as a standalone sequel to The Case of the Golden Idol. This single-player title invites players to uncover the truth behind twenty strange cases involving crime, death, and depravity set in the 1970s. The world has changed dramatically since the events of the first game, yet the sins of humanity remain unchanged. In this follow-up, you take on the role of an observer tasked with investigating a grand mystery that unfolds across an era defined by hallucinogens, disco culture, fax machines, and parapsychology. The Idol was lost but not forgotten, and its legend continues to live on in whispers and myth two hundred years after the unspeakable fate of the Cloudsley family. Some characters are determined to change this status quo by discovering the mysterious forces connecting a tenacious treasure hunter, a team of scientists, members of an enlightenment-seeking cult, and corporate profiteers drawn to the all-powerful artifact.
